144. The Grand Hallway
Amy recalls a classic line from one of her favorite movies, “Leave the gun, keep the cannoli.” While there aren’t any pastries around, Amy feels the sentiment remains apt here. Taking a gun she doesn’t know how to use can only lead to trouble. She returns to the door she entered through and finds that it is now unlocked again; perhaps the blast the door sustained shook the tumblers on the lock loose. Amy returns to the Grand Hallway.
The Grand Hallway is pretty much as Amy left it, but Amy has changed a little. She has now survived a harrowing (and baffling) attempt on her life by a Nineteenth-Century English Colonel. For her trouble, she’s obtained a library reservation card and a pair of panties. Amy takes a deep breath and tries to process what’s happened to her. “Alright, just stay calm and don’t panic. You made it through that. You’re no worse for wear. You can handle whatever this crazy house can throw at you.” After a few moments Amy feels she has re-centered herself and is prepared for whatever may come next.
