175. Return to the Portrait Gallery
As Amy enters the portrait gallery, she is startled to find all the paintings looking at her. Not looking at her in the Mona Lisa sense that the eyes are painted to follow the viewer throughout the room. Looking at her in the sense that the people portrayed in the portrait have all actually turned their heads to look straight at her. Even the suits of arms have swiveled their helmets to point at her.
As Amy walks across the portrait gallery, all eyes remain on her. The portraits turn their heads to stay focused on her, the suits of armor move their helmets. As Amy passes each pair of suits, they raise their weapons slightly in salute of the person they apparently believe to be the lady of the house.
Amy finds it all very creepy, and yet, at the same time, strangely flattering and empowering. She wishes that she were treated with this level of respect in her regular life.
Amy pulls herself out of her daydreams of being Lady of the Manor. Where should she go next?
