30. Perfect Complexion
Amy decides to try out the bone powder. “What could be the harm?” she thinks. She picks up the jar and inspects it. The label reads “For perfect complexion unattainable by any other means, the only method is Doctor Jacoby's patented bone powder! Apply liberally until whiter-than-white!”
Amy tries opening the jar, but the lid seems to be stuck. She strains and strains, trying to get a good grip on the jar, but the lid simply won't budge. She tries pounding the lid against the edge of the table in hopes of loosening it. Finally she holds the jar in one hand, the lid in another, takes three deep breaths, and puts every ounce of muscle she has into getting the jar open.
POP!
The jar flies open, sending a cloud of powder everywhere. Amy coughs as she breaths in the mysterious white powder that now fills the room and blocks her eyes. After a few minutes, the powder drifts groundward and the air clears sufficiently for Amy to see again. She looks into the mirror and finds a pair of empty eye sockets staring back. Amy tries to scream, but discovers that she no longer has lips or an esophagus to form words, nor lungs with which to expel air.
Mysteriously, Amy remains sensate. She can see and hear and move, but she no longer has flesh. An overdose of bone powder has turned Amy into a living skeleton.
Needless to say, Amy immediately calls off her rescue mission and goes for a good long pout.
Amy is in no condition to continue this adventure.
