313. Die Valkyrie

Amy decides that she's better off with a magical weapon in her hands. After all, once she's got it, it'll be the other guys that have to worry about that mysterious energy emanating from it, right?

She grabs it with her right hand and feels a sharp sting. ZZZT!

“Ouch!” Still, Amy's sure that she wants to keep hold of this thing. She holds on tight and gives it a yank. The spear doesn't budge. She grabs it with her other hand. Now she feels a light current coursing up one arm, through her chest, and down the other. Despite the tightness in her chest that this causes, she holds on, pulling as hard as she can. At last the spear shifts, just an inch. Then another. Amy braces her legs and pulls on the spear as hard as she can. As she continues her struggle she doesn't notice her hair gradually standing on end until it has turned into a giant spherical puff. At last-

WHUMP!

Amy dislodges the spear, falling backward, weapon in hand, onto her butt. A little dazed, but excited, she scrambles to her feet and holds the spear aloft in triumph.

KA-BOOM!

A bolt of lighting strikes, flying through the open window and touching the tip of the spear. In a flash Amy and the spear have disappeared, replaced with a pile of ashes on the ground.

Amy's journey is not yet over, however. She finds herself on a mountain standing before a great wooden hallway. As she starts walking toward it she finds that her clothing is now much heavier. She looks down and discovers that her t-shirt has become an ornate golden breast plate, held on with leather straps. On her feet she wears strappy leather sandals. Embarrassingly, she isn't wearing any pants; instead her legs are bare and her crotch is clothed in briefs made of solid gold, adorned with heart-shaped red gems. She blushes a bit at this reference to the underwear she wore in her past life, but can't help admiring the way the outfit complements her suddenly well-toned and highly muscular figure. As she looks down she feels something shift atop her head. She reaches up and discovers that she's wearing a golden helmet with a pair of white wings sprouting from the sides.

On the ground she finds the spear that brought her here, and next to it a golden shield. She grabs both and walks into the wooden hall.

Inside she finds a giant man dressed in a warrior's armor. He has grey hair and a patch over one eye.

“Come to me, my newest Valkyrie!” Amy realizes that the god that sits before her is addressing her. She tries to straighten up and walks to his throne.

“You now serve Odin, father of the gods and master of Valhalla! You will gather to me the glorious dead fallen in battle. Half you shall send to Freya, and the other half, the greatest warriors, you shall bring to me. They shall become my einherjar and shall train here for the great final battle of Ragnarok. When not gathering souls, you shall serve mead to my noble einherjar! Do you accept your mission?”

Feeling she has not choice, Amy can only nod in agreement. By a wide margin, this is what she least expected to happen when she grabbed that spear...

Amy is in no condition to continue this adventure or her life.
