66. Buried Treasure
Rosella did her best to swallow her feminine pride as she pierced the earth with the first stab of the shovel. While the
entire situation was odd with the zombies wandering around as she basically invaded their “homes,” they would not
bother her while protected by the magic scarab. Once and again she shoveled through the earth fast taxing her skinny
arms. Lucky for Rosella she hit something solid before her little “pipe cleaners” gave out for good.
Dropping the shovel, she wiped the sweat from her brow and tucked the loose blonde hairs behind her ears. The
princess knelt down and reached into the hole she had been digging. Brushing some of the dirt away, it appeared to be
a metal box. Wrinkling her nose, Rosella cleared away more of the dirt getting some of it under her precious nails. With
a little bit of elbow grease and a groan or two, the resilient princess managed to free the metal box from the earth.
Falling backward on her bottom, Rosella sat with her chin in her hands, staring at the box for several moments
wondering what might be inside. When she could stand the curiosity no longer, she reached forth with slightly trembling
fingers and opened the latch on the box, swinging the lid wide open. Inside was a luxurious looking fabric of a midnight
blue. Reaching inside, Rosella pulled it out and unfolded it. The mysterious item turned out to be a very lavish and
beautiful cloak! Standing up, the princess swung the fabric over her shoulder in dramatic fashion needing no
provocation to play dress up. It wasn’t until Rosella began to mock model her new garment and look down at how it
looked on her that she gasped. “Oh my!” she exclaimed. She looked down and tried to look at her hands and feet, but
she was… invisible? The confusion was thick but it slowly ebbed away and mingled with a new sense of awe. The cloak
was magical and afforded the wearer the fortune of invisibility! “This is just what I need to get into Lolotte’s castle,”
Rosella said to herself as she adjusted the bow and quiver on her shoulder, mostly to reassure herself they were still
there. Pulling the hood of the cloak up over her blonde head, and the cape closed around her front, Rosella bid
goodbye to the cemetery and its misfortunate inhabitants. Unseen by anyone, she headed for the mountains and the
path to Lolotte’s castle.
