148. Return to the Library
Amy wonders if she didn’t miss something back in the library. “It IS messy, so who knows what useful things I may have overlooked.” She returns to the library and begins searching the shelves for something interesting. After a few minutes she gives up in frustration. “NOTHING is organized here! I can’t stand it! I’ll be here for a month searching for something useful that may not even be here!” she says to herself. As she finishes speaking, her eyes fall on a mysterious book with glowing pages.
She picks up the blue hard-bound volume. Only the faintest of glows emerges form its pages, but it's there, nonetheless. Across the book, in a font that people in the thirties thought would be all the rage in the year 2000, is the title: The Adventures of Cadet Clarissa Clarion Beyond the Moons of Pluto. Amy smiles a bit. She's never heard of this book, but recognizes the style as classic 1930s pulp sci-fi space opera. She was always a fan of the Doc Smith Lensman books, and this looks like it's in the same vein.
“Maybe it wouldn't hurt to take a short break and read a chapter?” Amy thinks to herself.
What should Amy do?
