34. Back in the Sitting Room

Amy heads back to the sitting room. “With all that garbage lying around, there has to be SOMETHING useful in there!” She finds the room just as she left it, with glass shards and piles of debris scattered all over the floor.

Amy pauses as she passes one of the piles. Some of the debris looks strangely familiar to her. As she pokes around in it, she realizes what it is: she's seen pictures of this stuff, or stuff like this, in her Intro to Archaelogy textbook. This looks like stuff from the Egypt session.

Amy can barely conceal her glee at getting the chance to touch real Egyptian artifacts. The only time she'd ever seen things like this before was when she visited the Metropolitan Art Museum on a trip to New York City a few years back. But then, the artifacts were behind glass. Here she can handle them to her heart's content.

Sadly, most of the artifacts have been pulverized by the fight that happened here earlier. As she sifts through the pot shards and scraps of clay, Amy's interest wanes. Right as she decides that it's time to get back to business, a speck of deep cerulean blue catches her eye. Amy moves aside some shattered pottery and uncovers an ornate blue scarab. It's accented by shiny gold lines and is completely intact.

Amy reaches out to grab it, then pulls back. “Should I really be carrying around a precious artifact? Who knows where I'll go next, and it would be a shame to see this destroyed.” She stares longingly at the scarab. “On the other hand, I'll bet I could make a mint selling it to a museum. And that would be the right thing to do, wouldn't it?”

What should Amy do?

Take the scarab
