59. Warm-Ups

Amy decides to check out the Conservatory, from which she can hear the faint sound of a woman singing. She enters a large room with wooden walls and floors. As the door closes behind her, Amy hears a faint click; she suspects she won't be leaving this room for a while. The acoustics are incredible in here, and every noise is amplified well beyond its original volume. Assorted concert instruments are lying around on the floor. At the far end of the room stands a heavy-set woman in an operatic costume, complete with horned helmet, chain mail, and spear. She's busy singing to the accompaniment of a piano that makes noise without anyone seeming to play it. Amy gulps at this strange phenomenon and tells herself that perhaps this is just a player piano. The diva doesn't notice Amy's entrance.

“La la la la la la la la la!” The woman seem to be doing vocal warmups. Right now she's singing arpeggios.

“Me Me Me Me ME Me Me Me Me!” At the high middle note, Amy's ear hurts a bit, causing her to wince. Between the woman's clearly very high vocal range and the amplifying properties of the room, Amy wonders if it's a good idea to be in here without protection for her ears.

What should Amy do?
