74. Up Close and Personal

Amy dives forward and the cards fly over her. Thwip! Thwip! Thwip! They embed themselves in the book case behind her. Without thinking, Amy scrambles forward and sprints down the aisle toward the librarian. Taken aback that his attack has failed, the librarian can only stare as Amy closes the distance. Amy leaps at the frightened old man, tackling him to the ground. She seizes him by the lapels and looks into his face. His beady eyes show nothing but terror. Sweat beads on his brow. His lip trembles. Amy feels bad; maybe she had this fellow wrong the whole time…
