213. The Grand Hallway
Amy decides to take the gloves and the mirror and leave well enough alone. She heads back to the Grand Hallway. The hallway is now filled with light. At first, Amy thinks that day might be breaking, but no such luck. All the chandeliers and wall sconces are just giving off more light now.
Amy decides it's time to take stock of the various things she's collected. She empties her backpack. She still has the tools and supplies she brought in with her, including her faithful flashlight and spare batteries. She's also managed to collect a fairly complete new outfit, complete with lingerie, stockings, boots, dress, and gloves. She also now has a nice little hand mirror that she picked up in the conservatory and an ornate dagger she got in the portrait gallery.
“Not too bad,” Amy says aloud to herself. “And all it cost me were my pant legs,” she adds, ruefully noting her bare legs.
Amy's words sound weird to her as she speaks them, and when she realizes why she adds one more item to her inventory: The earplugs that she had forgotten to take out when she left the conservatory. She pulls out the (now slightly gross) plugs and sets them by her backpack.
Satisfied with her progress, Amy arranges her clothing items on a table so as not to wrinkle, packs up her remaining stuff in her backpack, and sets about deciding what to do next.
Where to?
